15/5/2025 - Prague

Image
We have now been in Prague for two days.  Spent most of our day time hours walking and taking in the sights.  We decided to do a Big Bus Tour which also included a trip on the River.  It was lovely to just sit back and relax on the River.

12/5/2025 - Off to Prague

Image
We had a quiet day on Sunday.  I went for a short walk in the morning to post a letter for Gwen and in the afternoon Gwen and I went for a walk down to see if there were some animals in the fields that we could photograph.  There were a few horses.  We also made a start on packing our bags for our trip to Prague tomorrow.  Gwen could a gammon for our tea which we had with a salad, followed by a caramel cheesecake.  It was delicious. On Monday we finished our packing, had our lunch and then drove to Gatwick Airport.  Gwen parked her car in the long stay.  We then hopped onto a bus which took us to Gatwick AirPort.  Coffee at Pre Manager and then headed upstairs to Departures.  It was easy checking in and we spent a bit of time wandering around the Duty Free section before heading to the gate for boarding our flight.   We arrived in Prague quite late at night. Gwen had downloaded the Bolt app (similar to Uber).  Our Bolt arrived and t...

10/5/2025 - Horsham

Image
Today we went into Horsham, Sussex.  It took us just over half an hour to get there and Gwen dropped me off close to the Square whilst she parked her car and then caught a bus into the town.  Horsham holds a market on Saturday but today the Morris Dancers were there to entertain.  Apparently this is regular occurrence each May.  It was a great opportunity for us to practice our Street Photography. Before heading off we stopped at Wetherspoons where we had a coffee before heading off to take photographs. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning just walking around at an easy pace, stopping to watch, listen and photograph the dancers as we went.  We think there were about 8 groups of dancers all up.  We stopped to try the street food and chose Thai food which was delicious for our lunch.  Gwen bought us some fudge for after which we ate with our cup of tea.  All in all in was a beautiful outing on a beautifully warm day.

9/5/2025 - Guildford and Cucknells Wood

Image
In the morning Gwen and I went into Guildford by the Bus.  It is takes about 20 minutes but is a lovely bus ride.  We headed to Pret Manager for Coffee and saw the Cinnamon Scrolls which were quite large so we shared this.  Following that we wandered around the town, Gwen got a few items in Boots and Sainsbury’s and I took a photos along the way.  We caught a Bus back to Shamley Green for our lunch. Following lunch we headed out to Cucknells Wood to see the Bluebells. There were a few still out in bloom and we enjoyed the walk around the Wood taking photographs along the way.  We did see a bird with a few chicks but they were too fast for me to photograph.  The bluebells were just about finished but those in the shade still a little longer before they died off. Opposite the entrance to Cucknells Wood is a delightful home. Gwen advised me that Alfred Hitchcock used to live there.

8/5/2025 - RHS Wisley,Surrey

Image
Gwen and I picked up Sophie and Amy and we headed out to RHS Wisley. It is a beautiful garden covering 240 acres.  It has many different sections to the gardens and we certainly did not see every part.  We did see the Laboratory, Hilltop, Wellbeing Garden, the Lake and the Glasshouse.  We had our lunch in one of the cafes within the gardens which we all enjoyed.  We were fortunate to see the Wisteria arbour which was out in full bloom and not only looked beautiful but had a lovely perfume in the air as we walked along it.   They have numerous lakes at Wisley and being Spring we were delighted to see many baby ducks.  They were very cute and we spent time just admiring them.  Just before the Glasshouse there is a delightful statue of The Dancing Hares. More information on the statue can be found  here

7/5/2025 - Arrival day in the Uk

Image
We all arrived safely at Gatwick Airport following our 9 hour stopover in Singapore.  Flight was good with a bit of turbulence and a diversion of the flight path to miss India and Pakistan. Going through immigration was very easy - all electronic.  Once we retrieved our cases we headed out to find a place where we could have a coffee.  They had a Starbucks where Sophie and I had a mocha frappe and Amy had a coffee.  This passed away a bit of time for us as our train was booked to leave Gatwick around 9.30am. It was very easy getting from Gatwick Airport to the Railway Station using the connecting train service.  Our train was on time so we boarded and we were on our way to Shalford where Gwen would be waiting for us.   Gwen was at Shalford waiting for us.  We managed to fit all of our cases into her car which was great, as it enabled Amy and Sophie to visit her home and say ‘hellp’ tp Brian before going to their accommodation in Godalming.  We sat...
